Arm Exercises for Women
Arm Toning Exercises

This article talks about arm exercises for women and arm toning exercises.

In many gyms there seems to be a distinct difference in the equipment that is used by men when compared with the equipment that is used by women. Generally speaking, more women utilize the cardio equipment and more men tend to use the free weights like barbells and dumbbells.

But the truth is that cardio and weight training are important for both men and women. What changes is how you use the equipment based on your fitness goals.

For example, male and female bodybuilders use dumbbells, barbells, and weight machines to build muscle.

Both male and female athletes use dumbbells, barbells, and weight machines to develop speed and strength for sports.

Both senior men and women use dumbbells, barbells, and weight machines to strengthen weak joints, prevent injury, and improve health.

And even regular gym-goers (both men and women) use dumbbells, barbells, and weight machines to improve their fitness, lose weight, build lean muscle, and tone flabby arms.

Okay, the main point I want to make is that there are no special arm exercises for women and different arm exercises for men. If a woman wanted to focus more on her arms then she would simply choose more arm exercises for her workout.

When someone is new to the exercising, I generally recommend beginning with compound exercises that work a lot of muscles at one time.

Here are some of the first arm exercises I recommend for women who are just beginning a workout program.

Push Ups or the Chest Press Machine
Assisted Pull Ups or the Lat Pull Down Machine
Seated Row Machine or Dumbbell Bent Over Rows
Dumbbell Over Head Press or the Shoulder Press Machine
Bench Dips or the Dip Assist Machine

After clients master the multiple joint exercises that work the most muscles at once, then I recommend adding in some isolation arm toning exercises.

A few of my favorite arm toning exercises that I teach my female clients are bicep curls, lateral raises, and tricep cable push downs with a rope.

Many of the best arm exercises for women are the same arm exercises that men use. Men and women can do the same arm exercises, but they will just do them differently based on the fitness goal. Read about weight training rules to better understand how to construct your arm workouts.
